New Year, New You!:
Today I'd like to talk about training. Some of you are stuck in a rut and you just can't make the progress you want. You go to the gym (when you can), you try and eat right (but not all the time), you do your cardio (sometimes).
Well, that's the problem right there! Your only going to get out as much as you put in. You must devote at least 6-8 weeks of strict dieting, training and cardio. The biggest reason people do not achieve their goals in fitness is because they give up to quickly, they lose a couple of pounds, then get stuck and then quit! I challenge those of you who really want to make a change for 2011 to come train with me. Click on this link to book your sessions today. Time is running out! http://www.anthonycatanzaro.com/personaltraining.html

Training Tip - The 3 Rules of Getting in Shape and Staying in Shape:
Today I'd like to talk about the 3 rules we all must follow to get in shape and stay in shape. Now I don't want to hear that when you were young you didn't do anything and you were in shape because those habits got you out of shape in the first place. Here are the 3 rules:
Rule 1: You must train with weights! If the weights are light enough your not going to build muscle, you will shape and strengthen them so never shy away from weight training.
Rule 2: Cardio: You must and I mean must do at least 3-4 sessions of cardiovascular work a week. This may include walking on a treadmill, using a bicycle or elliptical or just simply walking outdoors. Start with sessions of 15-30 min then work your way up to 45-60 min 3-4 times per week.
Rule 4: Diet: This is most important. You can live in the gym and do cardio till you are blue in the face but if you don't fuel your body and mind with the right foods, its not going to happen! To get into the best shape of your life visit my website for tons of info! I would be glad to help you!

Train Your Muscles, Not Your Ego:
This is something I see all the time, guys going to the gym and doing chest and biceps, maybe they do back, triceps and shoulders sometimes, but you can forget legs, calves, forearms, and abs! Then they come up to me and say how to get abs like you? I tell them how many times do you train abs a week and what's your diet like? Then they look at me and say, "I never train them and I don't diet." These guys go to the gym and train there ego. They have injury on top of injury but still God forbid they don't load the bar up just so they don't look bad.
Friends I don't care how much I lift I would rather lift 5 lbs and look great, than lift 500 lbs and look fat! Train your Muscles, Not Your Ego! I've learned in life that the people who are concerned with what others think of them will never truly have freedom. It's like what I always say "A real man is the one who stands alone." He doesn't need the recognition of others, he has enough within in his heart. Go to the gym and train for your benefit not to show how much you can bench press or curl. Train your Muscles, not your Ego!

Training - Having Fun Training!:
This December will be 25 years that I'm pumping iron! I remember the first workout I ever had in my little spare room in my Bay Shore house where I grew up. I used to blast music while my mother would scream at me! I really had fun with it! To this day, I am still doing the same thing and I LOVE IT! I also teach others how to LOVE IT! If you want to be successful in your training, you have to get into it and have fun! Stop reading books and searching the web. Do what I did 25 years ago and pick up the weights and start pumping baby! Here's a little clip I made from some old video I had. Remember, have fun with your training that's what its all about!

4 Tips for Staying
Injury Free:
Today I'd like to talk about training. No matter how hard you work your body needs time to recover, otherwise you will soon find yourself breaking down. Throughout my 25 years of training, I have always listened to my body. I've developed 4 easy tips to stay injury free.
1: Warm up! If your muscles are cold you will definitely injure them during exercise. Stretch for 5-10 minutes before you begin your training and stretch during your training as well.
2: Not too heavy not too light: Find a weight that you can handle. If you cant control the weight in the first few reps, its too heavy and you will risk getting hurt.
3: Get enough rest: Too many people think the more they train their muscles, the faster they will grow, its just the opposite! You grow after your done training. So a balance of rest and training should be equal.
4: Supplement with Glutamine: Glutamine is the most crucial amino acid our bodies need when it comes to muscle repair and growth. I take 10 grams in the morning and then 10 grams at night, look for the good stuff not cheap imitations. Stay strong and stay injury free!
